November 18
Anne Dunlap, RN won the 2009 School of Medicine Nursing Recognition Award in the category of Advance Practice.
Dr. Marc Fritz was appointed to the Editorial Board of the journal Human Reproduction.
Dr. Samantha Meltzer-Brody and Dr. Alison Stuebe were awarded a Tracs 50K grant, “Neuroendocrine Pathophysiology in Postpartum Depression and Lactation Failure"
Dr. Alison Stube was elected to the Board of Directors of The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine.
Dr. John Thorp appointed to a 3 year term on UNC's Status of Women Committee. He is the first obstetrician/gynecologist appointed to the committee.
Carol Bazemore, in Graduate Medical Education, was honored for her volunteer work in Wake County.
November 9
UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center recognized four staff members with the 2009 Oncology Nursing Excellence Awards and the Clinical Services Excellence Awards. Susan Hayden, Susan Mason, and Heather Rompel each received a 2009 Oncology Nursing Excellence Award. Timothy Cullip was recognized with a Clinical Services Excellence Award. Adaora Adimora, MD, MPH, professor of medicine in the School of Medicine and clinical professor of epidemiology in the Gillings School of Global Public Health at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has been selected by The Root magazine as one of the top 100 African-American leaders.
