Employee Recreation & Wellness Procedures for Eligibility

All employees of UNC Health Care, as well as residents, fellows, attending physicians, and House staff are eligible to participate in Employee Recreation & Wellness’ activities, events and discounts.

Retirees of UNC Health Care are eligible to participate as well. In order to be official, retirees will need to complete a complimentary Privilege Card form and return to Employee Recreation & Wellness.

Adult and student volunteers also need to complete a complimentary Privilege Card form in order to be eligible to participate, but needs to have a staff member from Volunteer Services sign the form.

Medical School employees, Medical School graduate students and University employees are not automatically eligible to participate in Employee Recreation & Wellness activities, events and discounts. In order to be eligible, they must complete a Privilege Card form and pay an annual fee of $25.00. Your privileges with Employee Recreation & Wellness will expire a year from the date of purchase.

Students completing an assistantship or an internship (minimum 3 months) are eligible once they complete a Privilege Card form and have their supervisor sign. The $25.00 fee is waived.

Students on a clinical rotation or undergraduate students who are not employed with UNC Health Care are ineligible to participate in Employee Recreation & Wellness’ activities, events or discounts. Purchasing a Privilege Card is not an option.

Approved contractors are eligible to participate once they complete a Privilege Card form and pay an annual fee of $25.00. Please contact Employee Recreation at 966-6419 to determine if you work for an approved contractor.

Spouses, partners and dependents of UNC Health Care employees and retirees, as well as all Privilege Card holders can participate in all Employee Recreation & Wellness activities, events and discounts. They do not need a separate Privilege Card; they will simply be registered under the employee’s name and information.
