Classes/Events
Whether it is a seminar on diabetes or a heart-healthy cooking class, UNC Health Care serves as a resource to the community for providing health information to empower people to live longer, healthier lives. In 2009 alone, UNC Health Care hosted more than 140 health education lectures and events in the community.
The best way to learn about upcoming events is to join Living Plus. This free program provides members with regular updates directly to your mailbox regarding upcoming classes and special events. Events can also be found in our online Events Calendar or in Health Scene, our free health education newsletter. Health Scene is a bi-monthly newsletter that provides insightful feature articles, tips for staying healthy and recipes that are good for the palate and the waistline.
Want even more information regarding a specific medical condition? Log on to our Health Library. This online resource provides a wealth of health information on a variety of topics. The library includes easy-to-understand articles, interactive tools such as BMI calculators, videos, podcasts and digital animation that can help you stay healthy.
Once you’ve armed yourself with the knowledge you need to make healthy changes in your life, step away from the computer and join one of the largest mallwalking programs in the nation. Heels in Motion is sponsored by UNC Health Care at The Streets at Southpoint in Durham and has more than 1,000 members. This program features regular speakers who talk about keeping fit and provides members a chance to exercise in a safe and comfortable environment.
